Completing either The Evil Within, its DLCs, or The Evil Within 2 for the first time, on certain difficulties or meeting certain requirements will grant several unlockables. These can either be new weapons, costumes, extra resources or miscellaneous quality-of-life settings.

New difficulties & New Game+[]

Beating the game once on either Casual or Survival difficulty unlocks the harder modes Nightmare and AKUMU, which can be started on a new playthrough.

Alternatively, one can start a New Game+ with all upgrade and collectible progress retained, allowing them to mop up remaining achievements or to simply have fun over the additional benefits given to them. New Game+ can be started from the beginning, or via Chapter select.

Players are additionally awarded Green Gel 50,000 for completing a new playthrough and can access this reward when they first gain proper access to the upgrade chair.

Completing either The Assignment or The Consequence instead unlocks the KURAYAMI difficulty. New Game+ playthroughs for these DLCs only carry over collectible progress and the Chapter selection is not available.
